Top Oil launches Fuel the Care – a partnership with Children’s Health Foundation to support families travelling to hospital for the medical care of a child
Dublin, Ireland – Leveraging its network of company-owned sites and depots and a new partnership with the Children’s Health Foundation, Top Oil is pleased to introduce its Fuel the Care programme across the country this month. The programme helps families travelling with children requiring medical care, by providing fuel gift vouchers to support travel costs between home and hospital.
Irving Oil, a Canadian-based company which operates Top Oil as well as the Irving Oil Whitegate Refinery in County Cork, is celebrating its 20th year operating the Fuel the Care programme in North America. Since 2002, through partnerships with seven hospitals in Eastern Canada and the Northeastern United States, Fuel the Care has supported more than 80,000 families.
“We’re very thankful for our customers’ support that has allowed us to help thousands of families in North America every year through Fuel the Care, by providing support at a time when families need it most,” says Irving Oil Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer Sarah Irving. “We are so happy to now be able to offer this programme in Ireland.”
The Fuel the Care programme works with Children’s Health Foundation and the Children’s Health Ireland Medical Social Work Departments to provide support to families with sick children.
Top Oil is celebrating the launch of this programme by providing free parking to visitors at Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin in Dublin on Tuesday, 18 October. Following this, Fuel the Care Day will be taking place on Wednesday, 19 October – with employees at select retail sites in Ireland washing windshields, pumping petrol and thanking customers for choosing Top Oil, and in turn, supporting Fuel the Care.
“We are extremely excited and grateful to partner with Top Oil,” says Denise Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Children’s Health Foundation. “The rising cost of living has brought added pressure to families of sick children across the country. The Top Oil fuel vouchers will help ease that pressure when they need to travel to appointments in Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres. We hope Top Oil’s customers get involved on Fuel the Care Day on October 19th and support sick children.”
In addition to the Fuel the Care programme, permanent “Care Pumps” will be introduced to four Top Oil sites across the country. At these dedicated pumps in Ballina, Kilkenny, Newhall and Cobh Cross, one cent from every litre purchased will be donated directly the Children’s Hospital Foundation in support of Fuel the Care.
“As a new programme in Ireland, we want to build awareness of Fuel the Care and how it supports local families when they need it most,” says Louis Labelle, who leads all Top Oil business operations. “We are proud of what this important programme has accomplished over the past 20 years in North America, and are excited to continue to make a difference for families in Ireland, thanks to the support of our customers.”
