Irving Oil Announces Expansion of its Retail Network in Atlantic Canada
Acquisition of 13 new sites and branding of 23 retail sites will increase ability to serve customers across the region
Halifax, NS – Irving Oil announced today that it has entered into a purchase agreement with Couche-Tard to acquire 13 and brand 23 retail sites across Atlantic Canada. All sites were previously branded Ultramar. The acquisition demonstrates Irving Oil’s longstanding commitment to the region.
“Irving Oil has proudly served Atlantic Canada for over 90 years,” says Sarah Irving, Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer, Irving Oil. “This investment reflects our long-term commitment to our customers and to our communities.”
Nine of the thirteen acquired sites are in Nova Scotia with locations in Halifax, Dartmouth, Lower Sackville and Truro. Additional sites acquired are in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, and Dieppe, New Brunswick. Retail sites will begin transitioning today with a planned completion date of late-August 2018 for all locations.
“Irving Oil recognizes that to remain highly competitive, we need to continue to grow across all of our geographies, and this starts in Atlantic Canada,” adds Ian Whitcomb, President, Irving Oil.
This announcement falls on the heels of an $80-million investment to reopen the Halifax Harbour Terminal and the acquisition of four inland storage facilities across the province.
