Saint John refinery reaches 60 year-milestone
In 2020, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the opening of our Saint John refinery. As Canada’s largest refinery, reaching this milestone reinforces our pride in our people, our customers and our communities.
Our commitment to our hometown of Saint John, NB, has not changed in our six decades of operation. Our refinery contributes more than $500 million to New Brunswick’s gross domestic product (GDP) annually and our refined products make up an average of 50 per cent of all trade value in New Brunswick. On average, half of Canada’s exported refined petroleum products come from our Saint John refinery on an annual basis.
We’re proud to employ more than 1,500 employees at our Saint John refinery directly, and thousands more indirectly. Our operations have created opportunities for hundreds of small businesses in the province that employ thousands of New Brunswickers.
With deep roots in our communities, we have invested millions to help make a difference in the places we serve – from local school partnerships to environmental programs to Fuel the Care, which helps families with the cost of travel between home and hospital.
To our community – thank you for being part of our journey; we look forward to all that is ahead.
